They are not "perfect" in the sense of what is generally wanted the most.

This is no coincidence. They always carefully pick useful mods, but take care not to make them count to the best weapons there is. Would diminish the incentive to get endgame greens and rare skins.

Closest to this are the Nevermore Flatbow, the Rhino Hammer and the Serrated Shield. Too bad you can no longer add a grip to them, the Rhino Hammer would then be a perfect weapon. But I think this is already countered by the fact that Hammers are not too popular outside PvP, and not overly much in PvP either.

BTW: Maybe the "Fiery Destroyers" are vulnerable to Cold Damage. IDS and the Preorder Glacial Blade would then just rock.

Are these gonna be available from the online store? I can't get them otherwise without paying GROSS shipping fees (over $50) which would be... dumb.

Yeah, you can get the prerelease package in the online store.

If the Glacial Blade has a cool skin, buh-bye IDS. And the staff will be quite useful for any new caster heroes we get. Same for the bow and rangers.

I wouldn't mind using the sword on a conjure warrior.

No, they aren't. "Icy" and "Fiery" are not the best weapon mods. And there are lots of reasons to want to use something other than "Of Enchanting" or "Of Shelter " in many situations.

People who bash "icy" and "fiery" mods are the same people who use Sundering (by the way, by dealing elemental damage, you bypass a warriors +20 armor vs physical damage, thus an elemental weapon is equivalent to a 100/20 Sundering weapon when used against a warrior).

hoo-ray?
The sword looks great for W/Ds and W/Es. The enchantments that work with cold damage in both professions can be pretty cool. And +15 while enchanted. That would be a "Guided by fate" inscription. And room for the pommel of your choice.

A sundering bow with 15% and - 5 energy... Sundering works nicely in every situation (one of the most sought after bow strings), and -5 e is made up for easily with expertise. This is a "Brawn of Brains" inscription, btw. And room for the bowgrip of your choice.

The staff.
15 energy (Base ten + 5 insightful staff head)
HSR 20% (Base on a max staff)
HCT 10% (Perfect "don't think twice" inscription)
+45 HP when enchanted (Perfect Devotion staff wrapping)

That makes a maxed out staff, useable by any casting profession.

So, none of these are "completely useless." All come with inscriptions (permanent ones, but they are there), and at least one maxed mod. And unlike the Spiritbinder, this one comes with a staff wrapping, as mentioned earlier. If you want a bare item that will accept prefix and suffix mods, go visit a collector or a crafter. These items were made to be relatively generic and "perfect" in order to please a wide variety of people. If you need something else to fit your dream build, other items are available in the game.

A better question about these items would be, why does the ritualist get a flashy pre-order weapon, but the dervish, paragon, and assassin are left out? Just wondering...

If you don't think the items are acceptable don't pre-order.

Gaile posted in another thread about pre-order items that devs are currently working on fixing the GOTY items and other pre-orders so that they will be able to accept mods again, and will thus not be "half modded" anymore. Hope that's good news to some poeple.
